ARTS AND ENRICHMENT
"To be an artist is to believe in life."
- Henry Moore
Elysian Heights Elementary launched a school-wide visual arts program in the fall of 2007. Our goal is to improve student achievement through the visual arts.
We also have a mission to enrich students' lives by teaching them techniques utilized by history's greatest artists. Throughout the year we focus on a different artist's life, specific techniques, and how this artist impacted the art world.
Pottery and ceramics have a long tradition here at EHS — you will find beautiful samples by professional artists throughout the school — and to continue this tradition, we've recently acquired a new, state of the art kiln, where clay pieces created by students can be fired by staff.
EHS received a new arts program in 2008. Students in selected classes will receive instruction in theater, dance and the visual arts.
